Mistakes Happen

Mistakes happen to everyone, nobody is perfect. Losing your car keys happens more often than some of us care to admit. We see it every day, and honestly, who hasn’t made that mistake at least once? When you’re constantly on the go, or even if you’re just out and about for a brief period, the small key ring is an easy thing to overlook. The issue is that a small overlooked key can be an expensive pain in your wallet!
The type of key that your vehicle uses is the biggest variant in cost. We offer a variety of services, and attempt to assist with all lock outs to the best of our abilities. There are numerous types of keys, from the simple non-transponder key, to the masterful smart key, we are here to help! Here is a list of the most common keys on the market:
  • Non-transponder key. This is typically on 1998 vehicles and older, it is a metal flat key, that works in an ignition cylinder. This is the simplest key on the market.
  • Transponder Key, or a key with a fob on it. This key dates back to 1995, but is still widely used today. It contains a microchip that sends information to the vehicle when inserted, making it a safer key than the transponder key as it’s harder to duplicate. There are variations of this key such as the rolling code key, remote key, and so forth.
  • Switchblade Keys. These keys earn their name because they are small metal pieces keys that fold into a larger electronic fob. These are a type of transponder key, but look different due to the fold. They can be replaced separately, but if both are damaged or lost this is a costly replacement.
  • Smart Keys. These are the toughest and most expensive keys to replace, as they require being reprogrammed to your vehicle. They communicate with the vehicle within a certain ange, and can do things like remote start or open doors.
It is always recommended to keep a spare key handy at home for this reason! Vehicle key repair can be very costly, but we are here to try and mitigate that however we can! We can open locked cars, make new keys from your VIN, generate new keys, program chip keys, remove damaged keys, duplicate keys, repair, replace or copy and program remotes, and more! If you have a momentary lapse of judgement and lose your keys, give us a call and find out what we can do for you! We aim to be your first call whenever you have an issue with being locked out, whether that is in your home, your business office, or from your vehicle. We work hard to provide the best service for all people and vehicles, and can handle almost every problem thrown our way! Unfortunately, at this time we do not have the ability to reprogram keys for Audi, Volkswagen, BMW, Mercedes, and Volvo’s newer than 2000. Please contact us for any surprise lock outs - we are here to help!
